We Achieved Artsmark Gold Status In The Summer Of 2013
Achieving the Artsmark award involved thorough analysis of the provision that we provide in the Arts. We feel incredibly proud of everything that we do for the ARTS and this will be an area that we continue to develop.
We are very proud of all the children who have been an essential part of getting the award, including our Talented children and all the children who were involved in the assessment day. They demonstrated their mature and responsible behaviour by articulating clearly all the work that school has done towards and Arts based curriculum. They also got to show off all the displays and things that they have made! We will hold this award for 3 years and during this time we will be working towards helping other schools develop an ARTs based curriculum.
Please see the School News section for information about our curriculum enrichment activities, our enrichment activities to stretch our Gifted and Talented children and our whole school celebration across all art forms.
All children at Willowbrook take part in a range of Arts based opportunities. Every year group currently gets an opportunity to work with our Dance and Drama specialist, Katie Parker, Our Artist in Residence, Maryam and Mr Norman our music specialist. The projects that are worked on are often led by pupil ideas and the School Council are heavily involved in planning projects. We hold celebration events frequently and these include the celebration of cultural diversity through dance, drama and singing.
Our specialists also identify children that are talented in particular areas and parents/carers of these children are provided with information on how to extend this talent outside of school hours. Leadership is developed through our talented children supporting younger aged children in a particular area of the Arts.
